Next week, November 17th-21st, our annual Scholastic Book Fair will take place in the MLK gym. Through sales from our book fair, we earn “Scholastic Dollars” which are then used to purchase new books for our library and classrooms. Last year, we were able to earn enough Scholastic Dollars to purchase $1800 worth of books for our school!
Monday will be a set-up and teacher preview day, and children will visit the book fair with their classrooms Monday through Thursday. Friday will be a clean up and book delivery day for the library and teachers. Students will bring home a book fair flyer this week with an order form. Please note that TAX IS CHARGED on all sales. The book fair is a great opportunity to buy holiday gifts! There are many, many more titles available than those included in the flyer. Parents are welcome to visit the book fair during the day Tuesday through Thursday (stop in at the office for a visitor pass), or during the evening of Tuesday, November 18th, during Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Also, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to ensure that our book fair can be open every day next week and run smoothly! The book fair is 100% PTO volunteer-run, so we need your help to make this fundraiser successful! Jobs include helping to set up (Monday), clean up (Friday), assist children with book selection (Tuesday through Thursday), and organize books (all week). Parents who volunteer at least one hour of their time will earn book credits for their children to use during the classroom visits, or to be used by parents to buy gifts.
