Dear MLK Families, Staff Members, and Friends,
We left two items out of the email that we sent earlier today (click here to read it, if you haven’t already)! Here they are — and again, happy holidays!
- Future Chef Recipe Competition
- Thank you to Hasbro for yesterday’s Day of Giving!
Future Chef Recipe Competition – submissions due January 8, 2016
All third, fourth, and fifth graders are invited to create an original recipe to submit to the Sodexo’s Future Chef National Challenge. This year, the healthy recipe challenge focuses on breakfast. Students whose original recipes are selected by Soxedo’s judges will compete in a citywide cook-off in March. Children can pick up a recipe submission form in the cafeteria.
Last year, King had the largest number of recipe submissions among all of the elementary schools in the Providence Public Schools, and we also had the largest number of participants in the cook-off, including Astrid Berger, who was a semi-finalist! You can read about last year’s competition and see a photo of Astrid and other MLK Elementary competitors here. Go MLK Falcons!
Thank you to Hasbro for yesterday’s Day of Giving
Yesterday, representatives from Hasbro visited students in elementary schools throughout Providence to deliver a new game to each and every child. The MLK Elementary School community thanks Hasbro for its generosity!
All the best,
Jill Davidson (MLK PTO President) on behalf of the MLK PTO
