News for the Week of March 9-13, 2015

Now that we are starting to thaw out from the very long, snowy winter, it’s time to start thinking about spring events at MLK!  Here are some of the upcoming activities at the school:

Tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 10, there will be a general PTO meeting in the MLK library from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  We will be discussing upcoming events as well as plans for next year’s PTO.  If you have any ideas to help support the King community or a desire to get involved with your child’s school, we’d love to see you there!  All are welcome!

Providence Schools is selecting a Teacher of the Year for the district, and is asking students, staff, families and the community to submit nominations for teachers who exemplify the best of the profession.  Nominations must be received by Friday, March 20, 2015.  For more information, click on the link below.

The MLK Talent Show will be happening soon!  The talent show is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 (please note the change from the original dates), but there will be several rehearsals beforehand in order to prepare the children for their performances.  Please watch your children’s backpacks for more information about this fun community event.

Starting in April, we will hold a monthly King Community Coffee Hour at 8:00 a.m.  Parents can stop by and chat with Principal Lussier and other staff while enjoying a hot beverage and a delicious pastry.  The first Coffee Hour will be Friday, April 17.  More information about this event will be provided soon.

The MLK Family Dance has been moved to Friday, May 1.  Keep an eye out for more information about this exciting family event!

There will be a MLK fundraiser at Chuck E. Cheese in Attleboro on Friday, May 15.  A percentage of all sales from our group that evening will be donated to the MLK PTO (including both food and token sales).  All students will receive some free tokens, and staff who attend will receive a free meal.  Stay tuned for more information about this event!

We are looking forward to an enjoyable spring at MLK!
